Helping You Understand Your Tenancy
We’re pleased to introduce a new suite of easy-to-read tenant factsheets, designed to help you better understand your tenancy and your rights as a council tenant.
These factsheets have been created to give you clear, straightforward information about what you can expect from us and what is expected from you. Whether you are new to your home or have been a tenant for many years, they are there to support you at every stage of your tenancy.
What’s included?
The factsheets cover a range of important topics, including:
- Exit property inspection
- Flexible fixed term tenancies
- Housing options
- Keeping pets
- Keeping your home safe - electrical cupboards
- Moving into your home and starting your tenancy
- Moving out and ending your tenancy
- Making changes to your tenancy
- New tenancy visit
- Paying your rent
- Right to manage
- Succession of tenancy in the event a tenant passes away
- Why maintaining your gas supply matters
- Your role in keeping our estates clean and safe
Each factsheet breaks down key information in a simple way, so you can quickly find the answers.
Designed with tenants, for tenants
These factsheets have been co-designed with the Tenant Consultative Group, ensuring they reflect what matters most to our tenants. Your feedback has helped shape the content, making sure it is useful, relevant, and easy to understand.
We are committed to making sure all tenants clearly understand their rights and responsibilities, and these factsheets are one of the ways we are supporting that.
Where to find them
You will be able to access the factsheets online here, and printed copies can also be made available if needed from Tamworth Borough Council Reception.
