- £5,965 raised through community crowdfunding
- Sixth fully funded project under the We Are Tamworth programme
- Free choir sessions, craft workshops and a community celebration event
Tamworth Borough Council is pleased to announce that Joy, hope and harmony: gospel & crafts by Tamworth Community Gospel Choir have successfully reached their crowdfunding goal through the We Are Tamworth programme, delivered in partnership with Spacehive. The project will now bring gospel music, creative arts and community celebration to residents across Tamworth.
The project received generous support from residents alongside match funding from Tamworth Borough Council through the government’s Community Recovery Fund. It will deliver a series of free choir sessions, craft workshops and a public performance event designed to build confidence, connection and wellbeing.
The programme will be open to people of all ages and backgrounds, offering safe and welcoming spaces where participants can explore creativity, develop new skills and form positive social connections. The final showcase event will bring together the music and artwork created throughout the project, celebrating the contributions of everyone involved.
Councillor Sarah Daniels, portfolio holder for cooperative council, community partnerships and antisocial behaviour, said: “It’s really exciting to see projects like Joy, Hope and Harmony that not only bring people together but give them the chance to create something meaningful. This isn’t just about putting on an event; it’s about building lasting connections and giving everyone a space to express themselves. We are proud to back this work and look forward to seeing the impact it will have across Tamworth.”
Heather Marrie, secretary of the Tamworth Community Gospel Choir, said: “We are so grateful for the support this project has received. Joy, Hope and Harmony is all about giving people the chance to come together, express themselves and feel uplifted through music and art. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the support of Tamworth Borough Council, we can now create something truly special and inclusive for local people.”
This success adds to the growing momentum of the We Are Tamworth programme, with multiple projects now fully funded and underway each designed to build cohesion, inclusion and opportunity across the borough.
