Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council said:
“We have a great deal of respect for the important role the church plays in the life of our town, and we’re saddened to learn that St Editha's Church has decided to resign from the Tamworth Strategic Partnership Board.
“Tamworth Borough Council genuinely value the contribution St Editha's Church makes to the partnership, the town centre and to Tamworth's communities. That contribution continues, and we remain wholly committed to working alongside the church in whatever way we can going forward.
“Our commitment to the vibrancy and future of Tamworth town centre is absolute. We are nearing the completion of a £21 million regeneration programme through the government's Future High Streets Fund and are developing plans for future transformation of the Gungate area and Ankerside.
“We remain open to partnership working with St Editha's Church.”
