Tamworth Borough Council has been officially awarded the prestigious Housemark AntiSocial Behaviour (ASB) Accreditation, recognising the council’s commitment to tackling antisocial behaviour, community safety, partnership working, and resident engagement.
The assessment included a comprehensive review of the council’s approach to tackling ASB, and an assessment of a range of local cases, demonstrating how the council addresses individual ASB incidents, from initial reports through to resolution. These highlighted the council's effectiveness in providing timely, targeted interventions.
Additionally, feedback from residents who had completed satisfaction surveys after their cases were closed, was an integral part of the assessment. The feedback consistently demonstrated high levels of satisfaction, with many residents praising the council's responsiveness and the clear communication throughout the process. Staffordshire Police and other stakeholders were also interviewed as part of the assessment.
Housemark’s assessor offered positive feedback, describing the council’s submission as “excellent.” They commented, “The council’s leadership and the team’s commitment to residents’ safety and wellbeing are clearly visible in the evidence reviewed. The satisfaction levels reported by residents, combined with the case studies provided, illustrate the council’s success in managing and preventing ASB.”
Councillor Sarah Daniels, portfolio holder for co-operative council, community partnerships, and ASB, said: “We’re extremely proud of the work our officers have done to support our communities and tackle antisocial behaviour. This accreditation is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our team, who work tirelessly to make Tamworth a safer and more inclusive place for all residents. The feedback from the assessment reflects our commitment to both proactive prevention and responsive service delivery.”
“Antisocial behaviour is a serious issue that can deeply affect the lives of those impacted. We remain focused on delivering high-quality services for our residents, and this recognition reaffirms the importance of continued collaboration between the council, residents, and partners like Staffordshire Police.”
The Housemark ASB Accreditation is a nationally recognised standard that highlights excellence in managing and preventing antisocial behaviour. Tamworth Borough Council now joins a select group of social housing landlords acknowledged for their commitment to effective ASB management, offering reassurance to residents and stakeholders that issues of antisocial behaviour are being addressed with professionalism and care.
