Tamworth Borough Council Grant Schemes

Tamworth Borough Council Grant Schemes support community, not for profit organisations and not for profit projects that work collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of our communities.

On 1 February 2024 Cabinet approved the management of Tamworth Borough Council’s Community Grant and Councillor Grant Scheme through The Community Foundation for Staffordshire.

The Community Foundation for Staffordshire is an independent charity dedicated to strengthening local communities across Staffordshire and Shropshire.

It aims to tackle issues of disadvantage and exclusion through the building of permanent endowments and the allocation of grants.

The Foundation is one of more than 40 community foundations throughout the United Kingdom, and is member of ‘ UKCF ‘, who promote closer working and opportunities for all Foundations throughout the country.

The following grant schemes are available:

Community Grants

The Community Grant Scheme supports voluntary and community sector organisations operating within the Tamworth Borough for the benefit of Tamworth Borough residents. The scheme also supports outstanding sporting individuals, who by achievement in sports promote Tamworth as a place.

Grants of up to £1000 per application are available from an annual fund of £15,590, which is allocated on a quarterly basis. Grant applications will be considered and awarded by the Nominations and Grants Committee and their decision is final.

Councillor Grant Scheme

The Councillor Community Grant Scheme enables councillors to provide grants to a wide variety of community and voluntary, not-for-profit organisations, for projects that further the Council’s aims and actively support the Tamworth community to enjoy a better quality of life.

The total amount of funding is £30,000 per year. Each ward Councillor is allocated a budget of £1000 which can be used to support projects that bring benefits to their ward, therefore a maximum of £3000 will be available to spend in each of the ten wards in the borough, i.e. Amington, Belgrave, Bolehall, Castle, Glascote, Mercian, Spital, Stonydelph, Trinity and Wilnecote.

Grant applications will be considered and approved by the Portfolio Holder for Environmental Health and Community Partnerships and the Assistant Director Partnerships in consultation with Assistant Director Environment, Culture and Wellbeing where appropriate.

Organisations should first contact their local Councillor to discuss their project BEFORE submitting an application.
