Councillor Sarah Daniels, portfolio holder for cooperative council, community partnerships and antisocial behaviour said:

“These workshops are an exciting opportunity for our local businesses and entrepreneurs to gain the tools they need to thrive in today’s economy while also promoting social inclusion. By bringing together business development with issues like cohesion and tackling prejudice, we’re helping build a Tamworth that is stronger, fairer, and more united.

“We’re proud to support this initiative with Keele University as part of our wider commitment to strengthening communities and rebuilding trust after last year’s unrest.”

Dr Tolu Olarewaju, Lecturer in Management at Keele University and President of the Staffordshire Black Business Network, is leading the project. He said:

“We’re bringing the Tamworth community together to build skills, strengthen connections, and boost confidence for a stronger local economy. These free, practical workshops are open to everyone, from aspiring entrepreneurs to established community leaders. Together, we can create a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous Tamworth. Skills. Connections. Confidence. A stronger Tamworth for all.”

Workshops are free, but registration is encouraged. Participants can register online at: https://forms.office.com/e/1ysU0LC4sD

This initiative reflects Tamworth Borough Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting community-led projects that empower local people, strengthen cohesion, and help businesses thrive.

This project is delivered by Tamworth Borough Council in partnership with Keele University and funded from part of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government community recovery fund, a grant of £600,000 awarded following the civil unrest in Tamworth on 4 August, to enhance community cohesion and rebuild social trust in Tamworth. The project supports long-term recovery by empowering communities, tackling misinformation and hate, and promoting inclusive growth.
