Graffiti removal

Graffiti on council-owned property is tackled using a state-of-the-art graffiti removal system and environmentally safe products.

If you are a council tenant or tenant of another social housing landlord in Tamworth, we provide a graffiti removal service.

We will:

  • Remove graffiti from council properties as long as it is accessible and not higher than three metres
  • Remove graffiti from other social landlords' properties
  • Remove all graffiti within 28 working days of notification
  • Remove all offensive or racist graffiti within 48 hours of notification
  • Work alongside organisations such as the police, Neighbourhood Watch and Crimestoppers to try and prosecute caught offenders
  • Take action against anyone who commits vandalism to a council property

 

Graffiti removal for non-council properties and land

We have a duty to remove graffiti from public spaces and council-owned property. Anyone caught graffitiing can be arrested and prosecuted under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 and could be fined up to £5000.

Reporting graffiti

We aim to remove:

  • Offensive graffiti within 24 hours of notification
  • Excessive graffiti with considerable detriment to the area within three working days of notification
  • Other graffiti, 10 working days from notification

Delays sometimes occur where graffiti is difficult to remove or needs specialist attention.

Please note we do not remove graffiti from privately-owned land or property. This includes canalside areas and bridges, railway property, electricity substations, cable boxes, privately-owned residences and commercial buildings.
