- Residents invited to pop along to estate days and meet council officers and partners
- Tenants encouraged to find out about services that affect them and how to join participation groups
- Advice, support and help for tenants between 10am – 3pm on 29 July at Leyfields & 28 August at Stoneydelph
Tamworth Borough Council has launched a series of community estate days at council housing areas supporting community engagement with local tenants.
The first event, which took place in May at the high-rise social club at the high-rise flats, was a huge success. Residents were welcome to pop by and speak to neighbourhood service teams and local partners about services that affect them, including income, tenancy management, repairs, tenant participation groups, active wellbeing, antisocial behaviour and community safety services.
The event helped signpost tenants to council services and support, with a wide range of council team officers involved and leaflets distributed
At the first event volunteers and council contractors were also on site to help with the removal of bulk waste and litter picking. Council crews also cleared rubbish in the high-rise blocks.
The next two events are confirmed as 29 July near the shops at Leyfields and 28 August at Stoneydelph (near Ellerbeck shops) from 10am – 3pm. Residents are invited to pop by and find out more about council services and how they can support their community.
Councillor Ben Clarke, portfolio holder for housing, homelessness and planning, said: “Our first community estate day was a great success. It gave residents a chance to speak directly with officers about housing services and any issues that matter to them.
“Our teams were on hand to offer support, tackle reports of antisocial behaviour, and deal with problems like fly-tipping and littering. It was great to see residents and officers working side by side to clear up communal spaces, making them cleaner, safer and more welcoming.
“Having our repairs and electrical contractors on site meant we could sort out some issues there and then, and report others straight away.
“We’re really looking forward to the next two events and I’d encourage as many residents as possible to drop by between 10am and 3pm; whether it’s for advice, to raise a concern, or just for a cuppa and a chat.”
