St Editha's Square

Project 5 - The transformation of St Editha’s Square into St Editha's Square with a tree on the left hiding the church and a white gazebo on the righta new-look, multi-purpose outdoor space.

St Editha’s Square has now been renovated into a new multi-purpose social space that can be used for a wider variety of entertainment and leisure events, as well as the home of the market.

With improved links from the Castle Grounds, this will make it easier to hold events that flow from the grounds through the town to St Editha's Square, therefore encouraging footfall to more areas of the town centre.

Landscaping improvements have made the square more even and accessible for all with a new level, even surface, with striking decorative paving, making the space feel much bigger.

To support the creation of new events space and to enhance the experience of users of the square, there are new additions including new power feeders, planting, lighting and benches.

The new paving is extended all the way through Middle Entry, past the Town Hall and the new retail units, to the new Castle Grounds Gateway, connecting the town’s three ancient monuments of St Editha’s Church, Town Hall and castle.
