Tamworth Borough Council has successfully taken action and issued a £400 Fixed Penalty Notice for fly-tipping.

A report was received on 6 June 2023, that someone had moved out of a property in Stonydelph and illegally fly-tipped their household waste at recycling banks in Ellerbeck.

After a thorough investigation to determine the offender, Tamworth Borough Council issued a Fixed Penalty Notice of £400. This was paid by the offender to avoid further action through the magistrates’ court. If the case had progressed, magistrates could penalise with an unlimited fine and or up to 12 months in prison.

Councillor Martin Summers, Tamworth Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environmental Health and Community Partnerships, said: “Any incident of fly-tipping is disappointing and unacceptable, plus it costs our council money. This incident was reported to us and removed by our Street Scene team.

“On inspection of the dumped materials and other evidence collated, a Fixed Penalty Noticed was issued to the offender.

“We would ask that if anyone witnesses a suspected incident of fly-tipping, they make a note of the date and time of the incident, if possible, including what was tipped and a description of any people or vehicles involved so we can gather evidence to send any offenders’ a Fixed Penalty Notice.”
