Ken Norchi has been announced as the new mayor for Tamworth with the ambition of doing all he can to make the year a good and happy one.

The ceremonial robes and chains were handed over by outgoing Mayor, Chris Bain, after what he described as ‘a pleasure and privilege to serve as mayor.’ He added: “I’ve witnesses remarkable and amazing work carried out across our communities and met so many inspiring individuals along the way. It’s been a real treat.”

Mayor Ken Norchi will be supported by the new elected Deputy Mayor, Pat Pallett. This will be Ken’s second time serving as mayor, previously in 2016.

On appointment, the Mayor of Tamworth, Ken Norchi, thanked everyone for their kind and supportive words.

He went on to say: “Thank you to all my fellow councillors for giving me the chance to be mayor once again, it’s a great pleasure, and thank you to Chris for all his hard work and dedication during his time in office.”

The outgoing Mayor presented a certificate to the outgoing cadet Corporal Archie Allsopp from Tamworth Air Cadets, and inaugurated a new army cadet, Madison Carey.

The Mayor is already planning fundraising events since mayor making, including a chocolate bingo that took place on Friday 22 May at Bolehall Swifts, and raised more than £500.

You can follow the mayor’s activities via the Mayor of Tamworth Facebook page.

The meeting was live-streamed and can be viewed via: Annotator Player and the council’s YouTube channel TamworthCouncil from Thursday 28 May.
