Tamworth Borough Council has taken a collaborative step toward tackling homelessness and rough sleeping with the successful delivery of its Home Summit, held on Tuesday 20 May at Tamworth Assembly Rooms.

The event brought together a wide cross-section of community partners and representatives who shared their expertise to help shape the council’s housing, rough sleeping and homelessness strategy.

The Home Summit was designed to encourage open, inclusive dialogue. Through focused discussion and shared learning, attendees explored what’s working, and where more action is needed.

Attendees were inspired by guest speaker Jean Templeton, CEO of St Basil’s, a leading voice in youth homelessness prevention. Her keynote address showed the importance of local solutions and cross-sector collaboration, sparking meaningful conversations throughout the day.

Tamworth Borough Council remains committed to turning conversations into action. The feedback and ideas gathered during the summit will directly inform the final housing, homelessness and rough sleeping strategy 2025–2030, making sure it is community-led, partnership-driven, and focused on long-term impact.

Councillor Ben Clarke, portfolio holder for housing, homelessness and planning for Tamworth Borough Council said: “The Home Summit was a fantastic opportunity to hear from experts who offered valuable insight about how we can reduce the risk of homelessness in Tamworth.

“Homelessness and rough sleeping can affect anyone, at any time. For those experiencing it, it is devastating. We prioritise action to prevent homelessness, stopping it from happening is always the best action. And while rough sleeping is low at the moment, there is no room for complacency.

“Feedback from this event will directly inform Tamworth’s housing, homelessness and rough sleeping strategy, making sure it reflects local needs and solutions.

“We’d like to thank all those who attended and contributed to this important event.”

The housing, homelessness and rough sleeping strategy 2025–2030 will be published later in the year.
