Come find the festive nutcracker characters hiding across the town centre.

The town stepped into the festive spirit with the annual Christmas light switch-on in the new location of the Castle Grounds last Sunday, plus the launch of a brand-new Nutcracker Trail.

Tamworth Borough Council have been working towards making the town more festive this year, with additional lighting, the return of Christmas trees above shop fronts throughout the town, an ice rink, Santa’s grotto and a free Nutcracker Trail.

Families are invited to search for the life-sized nutcrackers hidden around the town centre, between 26 November to 31 December.

Find all ten nutcracker characters and you can enter into a prize draw. Free activity packs with clues are available to collect from Tamworth Assembly Rooms Box Office, Tamworth Castle reception, or you can download a version on the website here: www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk.

Entry forms must be posted into the Nutcracker post box in Ankerside Shopping Centre. All correct entries will be entered into a prize draw, due to be announced in January. One entry per person.

Visitors are also invited to enjoy the full festive spirit from 18 - 24 December, at Tamworth’s first open-air, eco-friendly, synthetic ice rink at the Castle Grounds. A perfect activity for family, friends or work colleagues, set in the picturesque setting of the Castle Grounds overlooking the river. Ideal for an evening of fabulous festive adventure for all ages and skill levels.

During the week before Christmas, children can meet Santa in his grotto at the Castle Stables, located at Holloway. More details on how to book will be released very soon.

Parking charges will be dropped for all Tamworth Borough Council car parks on Saturday 2 December and Saturday 23 December. However, the offer does not apply to the privately-run NCP car park on the site of the former Gungate Precinct.

Councillor Thomas Jay, Acting Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said:” We hope residents join us in the town for some festive fun. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.

“The Nutcracker Trail is a great way to engage in the Christmas spirit and discover what our town has to offer. Download or collect your free activity pack today and see if you can find all ten of the large characters.”
