Extra pop-ups on hand to help Tamworth’s push to get fully vaccinated

NHS poster advertising walk-insThe local college and Ankerside Shopping Centre are set to join two other vaccine pop-ups clinics in Tamworth as residents are urged to rush to get both their Covid jabs without delay.

Extra vaccinations have been made available in Tamworth in a bid to manage the very high number of Covid cases across the borough.

Walk-in vaccine clinics will be running at SpringPharm everyday through to Monday (9am to 3pm) and Tamworth Baptist Church, Belgrave on Saturday (10am to 4pm) and Sunday (2pm to 5pm.)

These will be joined by the testing unit inside the Ankerside Shopping Centre (10am to 2pm) on Sunday and Tamworth College (car park near the Technology Building) on Monday and Tuesday (12pm to 6pm).

Dr Richard Harling, Staffordshire County Council’s Director for Health and Care, said:

“With cases in Tamworth remaining very high - almost double the Staffordshire and national average - and many legal restrictions coming to an end on Monday it is vital we have a combined effort to get as many people double-jabbed as quickly as we can.

“There is a sense of urgency to get as many people vaccinated in one of the walk in clinics being made available. As it’s getting vaccinated that is weakening the link to hospital admissions and death, especially in areas like Tamworth where transmission is high.”

Jeremy Oates, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said:

“Our recent case figures have shown us that Covid has not gone away and is still posing a risk to all age groups.

“Luckily our vaccination roll-out has gone well locally and we must not let this momentum stall. I would strongly urge residents to take advantage of these pop-up clinics and have one big push to get as many people jabbed and protected - both doses if they are eligible.

“A big rush to get as many Tamworth people double-jabbed will help save lives and allow people to enjoy the summer freedoms they have worked so hard for.”
