Tamworth Information Centre to move to new home

Tamworth-Information-CentreTamworth Information Centre (TIC) will soon be relocating to its new permanent home at Tamworth Assembly Rooms.

The newly refurbished Corporation Street theatre includes a brand new Box Office and information centre desk which will greet visitors as soon as they enter the building.

The move gives the service a more central location and allows for more flexible and extended opening hours, including weekends and evenings when the theatre is open for shows.

New opening hours will see the TIC open to members of the public from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday on non-show days and from 10am to the end of the interval on show days, including Sundays.

Tamworth Information Centre will continue to provide a range of services for residents and visitors to the town. This includes selling tickets for the Assembly Rooms and Tamworth Castle, coach tour and event bookings, National Express tickets, Arriva bus passes, parking permits, information on local amenities and services, green bin subscriptions, plus gifts and souvenirs.

Information centre staff are due to move into Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Monday, January 27, and will develop the service over the next few weeks as they settle into their new home.

Cllr Robert Pritchard said: “The TIC move to Marmion House was only ever temporary. Prior to that it had been operating from Philip Dix House, which is now of course home to Tamworth Enterprise Centre.

“The newly refurbished Tamworth Assembly Rooms is the perfect location for the TIC, as it’s a busy, more central area of the town and will enable it to offer more flexible and extended opening hours, in line with the use of the theatre.

“The new theatre café will also open in the daytime, so visitors will be able to pop in for a coffee and cake while booking their show tickets or enquiring about local services and amenities.

“TIC staff have already been offering a Box Office service from the Assembly Rooms, and the rest of the team will move across on Monday, January 27. This will also bring to an end the temporary Saturday presence in Tamworth Castle, which worked well during the busy summer and Christmas seasons, but will be provided at the Assembly Rooms going forward.

“This is a great move for the people of Tamworth and we look forward to welcoming visitors through the doors of the new-look theatre and information centre.”
