Parking

Poor parking can be a real problem for local communities. Blocked pavements and streets are dangerous and annoying for everyone.

From February 2009, Tamworth Borough Council will be taking over responsibility for parking enforcement across the district.

Parking enforcement has previously been managed by the police. The aim of transferring it to local councils is to free up valuable police resources to tackle other priority areas. Tamworth’s Clear Streets operation will be self funding. The money collected, once costs have been covered, will be spent directly on improving highway safety and transport services in our area.

Here are some quick parking reminders:

DO NOT stop or park:

  • Near a school entrance
  • Anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
  • Opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
  • On a bend
