Tamworth Borough Council, in partnership with
Staffordshire County Council, took on the responsibility from the
Police for the civil enforcement of parking which breaches traffic
regulation orders in April 2009. This covers:-
- Waiting or parking on yellow lines during the restricted times
shown on time plates
- Waiting or parking on double yellow lines
- Parking in time limited marked and signed bays or disabled
bays
- Contravention of off street parking orders in Tamworth Borough
Council car parks
In Staffordshire this Civil Parking
Enforcement initiative is called
'Clear Streets' - because that's what it sets out to
achieve.
Inconsiderate parking in contravention of the
orders blocks pavements and chokes streets. They are not just
a minor annoyance; they can make your neighbourhood dangerous.
The well-trained and uniformed Civil
Enforcement Officers will issue Penalty Charge
Notices to drivers selfishly flaunting yellow line
regulations and ignoring parking signage for time limited or
disabled bays.
The officers patrol Tamworth through regular
beat patterns and according to traffic regulation orders in
place. Please note that whilst we endeavour to note areas of
concern, the service is not an emergency response service.
Clear Streets will be self funding and once
costs have been covered the money collected will be spent on
improving highway safety and transport services.
All motorists are required to park legally and
safely and in line with the traffic regulation orders in place or
risk the issue of a penalty charge notice.
Illegal obstructions and dangerous parking,
contrary to Highway Code advice, where there are no traffic
regulations in place, should continue to be reported directly to
the police for enforcement via the non emergency contact
number 101 as this does not form part of Civil Parking
Enforcement.
Make sure that you are clear on your
responsibilities as a driver by brushing up on the Highway
Code and take particular note of the section called
Waiting and Parking. Follow the code and you won't fall
foul of the law.
Clearing your streets of rogue parkers will
bring
benefits for everyone. And as a bonus while our Civil
Enforcement Officer are out and about they will be keeping a
watchful eye, helping to make your neighbourhood a safer place.
If your enquiry relates to a penalty charge
notice or an appeal against a penalty charge notice then please
refer to the Payment and appeal contact details for penalty charge
notice information located in the more information
section (to the right), or if you have any general
questions about Clear Streets in Tamworth or wish to report in
