Abandoned vehicles
What is an Abandoned Vehicle ?
Abandoned Vehicles come in many shapes and sizes, some intact, some
vandalised and some burnt out. Under the Refuse Disposal (Amenity)
Act 1978 the Local Authority has the power to remove vehicles that
have been left in the open air and to which the keeper has no
intention of returning. It also includes trailers and caravans.
What if an abandoned car, van or other vehicle has been
burnt out?
If a vehicle has been burnt out, it should be reported to Tamworth
Police, Tel: 101 as it may be have been stolen, otherwise the
police will report it to us for removal.
What if a vehicle is being used without road
tax?
If a vehicle is being used without a valid tax disc it is not
classed as abandoned, this must be reported to:
DVLA online at www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/untaxedvehicle
(this can be done anytime and anonymously).

How do I report an Abandoned Vehicle?

you can use the Report it online facility.
With the following information:
- Where the vehicle is
- The registration number of the vehicle
- The colour and make of vehicle
- The condition of the vehicle (i.e. burnt out, vandalised or
intact)
- How long it has been there for
- If it is displaying a tax disc
