Members Code of Conduct
The Codes of Conduct cover areas of individual behaviour such as
members not abusing their position or not misusing their
authority's resources. In addition, there are rules governing
disclosure of interest and withdrawal from meetings where members
have relevant interests. Members are also required to record their
financial and other interests.
Changes to the complaints procedure
From 08 May 2008 the responsibility for considering complaints
that a member may have breached the Code of Conduct is moving to
the standards committees of local authorities.
What this means to you
After 08 May 2008 if you want to complain about the conduct of a
member of Tamworth Borough Council, you must submit your complaint
to:
Chair of the Assessment Sub-Committee
C/o The Monitoring Officer
Tamworth Borough Council
Marmion House
Lichfield Street
Tamworth
B79 7BZ
The assessment sub-committee can only deal with complaints about
the behaviour of a member. It will not deal with complaints about
things that are not covered by the members' Code of Conduct. If you
make a complaint to the assessment sub-committee it must be about
why you think a member has not followed the Code of Conduct.
To the right you will see a menu showing Members Code of Conduct
along with the Complaints Form that will need to be completed and
returned.
