What we have done so far?

We have been collecting evidence since 2006 and as well as producing a main summary document, we have undertaken a large number of individual studies around different issues.  You can access the evidence base documents via the link on the right.

We have undertaken a number of informal consultations on the vision, issues and options in 2007 and 2008 and most recently, an Option document in early 2009. You can download the Council's responses to comments received to the Option document on the right.

We have just finishing consulting on the Proposed Spatial Strategy version of the Core Strategy. You can download the document on the right, along with a newsletter and the report to Full Council on 15 September 2009.  We will be reporting the responses to the consultation to Cabinet in early 2010.

Sustainability Appraisal

Alongside the Core Strategy we will prepare a Sustainability Appraisal, the purpose of which is to evaluate the social, environmental and economic effects of the Core Strategy to ensure that the document contributes to the achievement of sustainable development.

The Initial Sustainability Appraisal considered each of the four spatial options in the Issues and Options report against a range of sustainability objectives that were established through the Scoping Report. It recorded the main environmental, social and economic implications of each option and assesses the relative advantages and disadvantages. You can download the Scoping Report and Initial Sustainability Appraisal on the right.

We have undertaken an Interim Sustainability Appraisal on the Proposed Spatial Strategy, to assess the overall strategy against the four spatial options presented in the Option Document and the majority of the policies.  The Council will be producing a further Sustainability Appraisal for the Publication draft Core Strategy.

Do you own land that you wish to be considered for development?

If you own land within the Borough that you would like the Council to consider for development, we would like to hear from you. Please fill in a developer intent form to give us some basic information about the site. You can download a form on the right hand side, making sure you use a separate form for each site.  If housing is the intended use it would also be helpful if you could supply information about indicative numbers of units and a layout if available.
