How we can help you
The Town Planning Service considers a wide range of proposals,
some of which require formal approval. On 1 October 2008 the
criteria for householder permitted development changed, providing
more flexibility to home owners to extend and alter their
properties without having to apply for planning
permission. For further information on the changes to
householder permitted development, please refer to the
Interactive
House Guide and Common Projects
pages on the Planning Portal website. It is important to note
that these rules still only apply where permitted development
rights are still in place, and that large areas of the Borough have
had these permitted development rights removed. We would
always advise customers to contact the Planning Service prior to
carrying out any works to their property to confirm whether a
planning application is required. If you are in any doubt, or need
any further information, please contact the Planning Service on the
phone number or e-mail address below, or by writing to us at the
address at the top of this page. Further information and
enquiry forms will be available on this website in due course.
This section has links to the various planning application forms
and fee sheets. Guidance notes are included with the forms. The
Council has no cash handling facilities and you are therefore
encouraged to use the Pay it online facility in order to pay for
applications, copies etc. Cheques can however be forwarded to pay
for these. If you have any queries regarding costs prior to payment
being made, please contact Planning Admin on 01827 709282.
If you can't find the information you need here you can telephone
