New local rate number for automated payment line

The automated payment line which allows Tamworth Borough Council customers to make all kind of payments over the phone has been changed to a new local rate number.

The new number, which is now operational, is 0345 2307709. Calls are charged at a local rate, replacing the previous high rate number.

The number allows customers to pay a variety of bills over the phone, including rent, council tax and parking fines.

The switch to a local rate number means that customers pay a lot less for the calls. It also means that calls to the number it can be included in usual mobile phone usage.

Customers are also being reminded that they can make payments online, completely free of charge. Anyone without internet access who would like to use this service is welcome to come to reception at Marmion House in Lichfield Street to log onto the internet.

Tamworth Borough Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Rob Pritchard, said: “The switch to the new local rate number is part of our ongoing commitment to improving customer services and making it easier for our customers to get in touch with us and to use the services which we provide.

“We have a wide range of instant and interactive services available on our website and through the MyStaffs mobile app, including online forms, council tax & rent balances and the ability to report local issues through our ‘Report It’ button. All of these services are available 24 hours a day, so there is no need to wait until our offices are open.”
