This year’s summer play activities are returning with a different feel and rebranded to the Playspace/Sport. The traditional Playspace activities have changed to a full sports programme, offering children a more active summer. There will be an outside programme of sports on offer for children aged between 5 – 12 years old, with the traditional arts and crafts replaced with activities such as tennis, football, cricket, running, street dance, rounders, softball and many more.

Councillor Bruce Boughton Portfolio Holder for Economic and Enterprise

“This year sees the development of the traditional Playspace programme into the Playspace/Sport programme. This will offer children a more energetic environment and helps promote a healthier lifestyle. The scheme also offers the perfect way for a child to have some fun and integrate with other children, making new friends and learning new skills.”

The scheme welcomes hundreds of children every year and is a highly popular programme. Feedback from Playspace is always positive and that the activities help children develop new skills and engage with other children. Many parents will be delighted to know that the majority of friendly staff from previous years Playspace/Sport will be returning. Their expertise and hard work will deliver a quality and professional scheme suitable for children of all abilities.
