Who Can Help Family Mediation and Turnaround
Family Mediation
Family mediation is a service offered by
Tamworth Borough Council. The mediator acts as a “go-between” in
order to resolve conflict within families, or between parent(s) and
young person.
The mediator is impartial. Usually the
mediator will meet firstly with one party and then the other, with
no preference on which way round. The mediator will talk firstly to
one party, then to the other, and then bring both parties together
where discussion can take place to help resolve conflict and move
forward. Sometimes the mediator will suggest a way of solving a
problem to help to reach an agreement acceptable to both
parties, but they will never tell either party what to do.
The ultimate goal of the mediator is to engage
the family in conversation so that the young person feels happy to
return home, or no longer wishes to leave.

Tamworth Turnaround Team
Turnaround is a multi agency team that offers
support to family and children within Tamworth.
The team consists of Police and PCSO’s,
Parent Support workers, children’s mental health team, Health
professionals, housing advice, Street Wardens, the CAF co-ordinator
for Tamworth and some staff from Staffordshire Young Peoples
Support Service. (SYPSS).
The group meet bi-weekly and discuss all the
young people that each of these professionals are working with the
group can then offer support from their own service if appropriate
to the family or young person.
This means that rather than families having to
go to different agencies to get the support they need Turnaround
can offer most services in one go, making the process quick and
easy for families and young people to get the support and help they
need.
