A range of information leaflets has been produced for
tenant volunteers:
A guide to tenant
involvement
Put simply, tenant involvement is about the Council and
tenants working together in partnership to improve housing services
and ensure that the service is achieving value for money.
A guide to Claiming Expenses in your
role as a volunteer in tenant involvement
In recognition that tenants should not be ‘out
of pocket’ when volunteering their time, Tamworth Borough Council
has produced a guide to claiming expenses, so that you can claim
what you are entitled to on the production of a valid
receipt.
A guide to Training in your role as a
volunteer in tenant involvement
At Tamworth Borough Council we are committed
to offering training for tenants and leaseholders to raise your
awareness, knowledge and confidence to get involved in discussions
and decision making. We are always looking for new ideas for
training and support ideas from the wider community. Training
is free to participants and is funded by Tamworth borough council’s
tenant participation team.
A guide to the Wish Upon a Star
initiative
We’ve got £15,000 up for grabs for local
community projects. Wish Upon a Star is a new scheme aimed at
encouraging and promoting local community activity for tenants of
Tamworth Borough Council. The Tenant Participation Team at
Tamworth borough council and the repairs contractor Morrison
Facilities Services have teamed up to help make your wish for a
local community project or activity become a reality.
A guide to Equality and Diversity in
your role as a volunteer in tenant involvement
Tamworth Borough Council aims to encourage the
involvement of tenants and leaseholders to enable them to have an
impact on the delivery of housing services. We will continue
to monitor ethnicity, gender, disability and age of members of all
customers involved in tenant involvement. All tenants and
leaseholders will receive a fair and equal service.
A guide to Confidentiality in your
role as a volunteer in tenant Involvement
It is important that volunteers are aware of
the importance of maintaining confidentiality. At times you
may have access to reports and Council policies and it is important
to respect these confidences and not to discuss them outside of the
working groups.
A guide to Code of Conduct in your
role as a volunteer in tenant Involvement
A code of conduct is a set of ground rules and
guidelines that the group agrees on to reflect the way in which the
group will work. It is the way in which they should carry out
their duties either as members of the committees or as general
members of the group.
A guide to Conflict Resolution in your
role as a volunteer in tenant Involvement
It is difficult to agree with each other all
of the time which is why conflicts can arise from time to
time. It is important for all concerned to resolve conflicts
efficiently and effectively to avoid the situation escalating,
which can become expensive and destructive.
