Seniors United
Seniors United was formed following 'An Afternoon Tea
Assembly' event in 2008.
It is for sheltered scheme tenants to come
together, meet people, share ideas and exchange views sheltered
housing issues.

Guests who have attended the Senior United meetings:
Environmental Health Officer on good hygiene and avoiding
food poisoning
Financial Inclusion Officer, John Coombes, on fuel poverty,
debt, Council Tax and pensions
Local Fire Fighters on safety in the home, offering free home
safety and smoke alarm testing
Housing strategy team on the 'Older Person's Strategy'
Tamworth Castle on disabled access and general
improvements. The group were asked to complete a survey as
part of the allocated Heritage Lottery Funding.
Key activities that Seniors United has been
involved in:
- Planning the sheltered housing fun day event.
- Planning a gardening event to be piloted at a sheltered
housing scheme
- Question and answer sessions with Morrison Facilities
Services and Tamworth Borough Council repairs team
- Consultation on the proposed changes to sheltered housing
and the Homelink service
The group offered feedback on their concerns surrounding the new
'Finding a Home' and Choice Based Lettings Scheme
The group currently meet bi monthly on a Wednesday afternoon,
all sheltered scheme tenants are welcome to come along to meetings.
