Tenant participation
Make a difference and have a say in your Housing
Service
Tamworth Borough Council is committed to
ensuring that all tenants and leaseholders have an opportunity to
get involved in how the Housing Service is run and delivered.
Our vision for tenant involvement is "to put tenants in the
driving seat to help make improvements to our housing service,
homes and communities".
Tenant involvement is a partnership between tenants and Tamworth
Borough Council that delivers a first-class service which is
responsive to tenants needs and provides value for money and
excellent customer service.
We believe that tenant involvement is a vital part of Housing
Management. It is only by working in partnership that we can
provide the best possible housing service to you.
We aim to:
- Keep tenants and leaseholders informed
- Provide accessible forms of consultation
- Offer a range of methods for involvement
- Listen to what tenants and leaseholders tell us
- Actively encourage involvement in housing matters

Mystery Shopping and Being a Tenant Inspector: A
Tenant's Guide
This course is aimed at active tenants who are
already, or who are looking at becoming tenant inspectors. It will
look at the ways in which tenants can make a real difference to the
way social landlords (Housing Associations, Arms Length Management
Organisations and Council housing departments) deliver services and
improve accountability to residents.
- We will look at the benefits to both the
residents and the landlords of tenant inspectors
- We will look at different approaches to you
inspecting and auditing your landlord.
- The course will help you to unravel the myths
of mystery shopping. We will look at why we need to mystery shop,
how to do it and trying it out for real.
- We look at the three types of Key Lines of
Enquiries and following the framework for resident
inspections.
- We will look at performance indicators, what
is the purpose of them and how we can make them tenant
friendly.
There will be practical examples and lots of
time to practice and ask questions. At the end of the day
participants will have a range of tools to go away with that can be
developed further as well as the confidence to push this new agenda
forward with their landlord
Thursday 20 may 2010 9:45 - 16:15pm Lunch
will be provided and assistance with travel arrangements if
required. Any 'out of pocket expenses' will be reimbursed on
the production of a valid receipt.
