The Housing Register is a combined list of people who are waiting to become tenants or who are looking to move from one Council property to another within the Borough of Tamworth.

Who can join the Housing Register?

Everyone is entitled to apply to the Housing Register unless they are excluded by the Housing Act 1996, as amended by the Housing Act 2002.

These exclusions are;

1. Applicants subject to immigration control

   i.e. persons subject to immigration control under the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 will be ineligible for housing, unless they have been granted refugee status, or exceptional or indefinite leave to remain.

2. No habitual residence

   Persons who are not habitually resident in the Common Travel Area (i.e. the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) are not eligible to register. To qualify persons must be living permanently in the Common Travel Area and not on a temporary basis.

3. Nationals of European Economic Area (EEA) with no right to reside.

   Those residents of the EEA who have been notified by the Home Secretary that they no longer have a right to reside in the UK have no right to register.

4. Guilty of unacceptable behaviour

The Council may decide that an applicant (or a member of the applicant's household) is ineligible to be allocated housing.

Complete an application form which can be downloaded from the link on the right of this page or collected from the Council Offices at Marmion House, Lichfield Street , Tamworth B79 7BZ.)

Please read the note sheet to assist you completing the form. All forms must be completed in full. You must answer all the questions and provide all proofs. Your form will be sent back to you if it is not fully completed.
