Housing Advice
The Housing Advice Team is based in Marmion House in the
town centre and handles initial applications for housing (the
Housing Register), transfer requests from Council tenants,
nominations to other Councils or Housing Associations and also
deals with people who are homeless or threatened with
homelessness.

They are available Monday to Friday between 8.45am and
5.00pm
Trained advisers are available for you to speak to and
you may be able to discuss your enquiry over the telephone.
You can also make an appointment to see an advisor.
The Council can offer advice and information on a range of
housing problems. You may also be directed to other agencies who
can offer more specialist advice and assistance where
appropriate.
The following are a few examples of the sorts of housing
problems the Council can help resolve or offer information
about:
- Problems with parents or family
- Domestic Violence
- Leaving the armed forces
- Leaving Local Authority care
- Problems with a private landlord
- Homelessness
- Information about the private rented sector
- Mortgage / Rent arrears
