Homelessness Prevention & Housing Advice
Homeless Prevention and Advice
If you believe that you may become homeless it is important that
you seek advice as soon as possible. By making contact with the
Housing advice team early we may be able to prevent you from losing
your home.
Telephone Housing Advice: 01827 709459
Email: Housingadvice@tamworth.gov.uk
Further information is available in the Homelessness booklet,
which you can obtain at Marmion House or from the the link on the
right.
Please note that the law does not protect everyone who becomes
homeless. If the Council has a duty to you as a homeless household
who is in priority need and
unintentionally homeless, you will be awarded highest priority
banding under the Finding a Home choice based lettings allocation
scheme.
You will be able to express an interest on vacant advertised
properties that meet your housing needs. High priority bandings are
reviewed after 2 months.
If you do not fall in to one of the priority need categories,
you may still be able to find accommodation through the Council’s
Finding a Home scheme as well as other housing options such as:
- The Bond scheme. The Council
provides a guarantee to private landlords against rent arrears,
loss or damage to the property for 6 months (conditions apply).
Full details are available in the Bond
scheme leaflet. This is also available from Marmion
House.
You can also contact the Housing Advisor Sue
