Housing Asociation Nomination
The Council has nomination rights to most of
the housing associations with properties across the borough. This
means that they must offer the Council the letting and that offer
is made to an applicant on the Finding a Home housing waiting
list.
Some housing associations accept direct
applications from the public or you can apply to the Council’s
Finding a Home housing waiting list for nomination.
You may be considered as a suitable ‘nominee’
for a property if once one becomes available you are eligible and
you are assessed as being in the greatest housing need at the
time of the nomination.
In 2009 we nominated 250 people to housing
association empty properties this included a new housing
development site.
Currently we are busy working behind the
scenes to be able to offer the facility of advertising all our
nominations through our dedicated Finding a Home website which will
allow applicants to bid on these advertised properties.
To enable this in October 2010 we began a pilot in
partnership with Waterloo Housing Association to advertise
properties for nomination which began with the new
development of flats at Reinshaw Court. This pilot has been
extended to include advertising a Bromford Housing shared ownership
property.
The pilot will run until early in the New Year and will help us
in developing and refining our nomination agreement with other
housing providers and how we advertise these properties.
