Finding a Home

Welcome to the Council’s choice based lettings service called Finding a Home.

As from Tuesday 11th May 2010 we will be advertising our empty homes here on the website, as well as being advertised in the local press and displayed in Marmion House reception.

What is choice?

You make the decision about where you want to live and when you want to move; and because of this
Helps to create settled communities where people choose to move to and stay;
Through advertising you can see all our available empty properties which makes it a fair simpler and open service;
Makes the best use of the housing stock through initiatives such as the incentive to move scheme for releasing under occupied or adapted properties;
Sign posting our customers to financial assistance to help them remain in their own home i.e. mortgage rescue;
Working with others agencies and support services to prevent homelessness;
Making use of internal trained mediators to return people home; and
Working with private landlords and housing associations to provide more available housing in Tamworth.
Our new finding a home website http://www.findingahometamworth.co.uk is where all our empty properties will be advertised and you will be able to ‘express an interest’ in moving to.

The Council remains committed to developing real housing choice and is working in partnership with UCHOOSE, the sub regional choice based lettings service for properties outside of Tamworth.
