The team consists of:
John Murden - Housing Repairs Manager
Trevor Wylie - Estates Manager
Angela Betteridge - part time Administrative Assistant
Cleaners and Caretakers.

How the service evolved: The team has evolved from being estate caretakers whose role was to clean and maintain specific flats to being a multi tasking team reacting to the needs of tenants.

What do the team do? Each of the jobs reported is assessed and prioritised with the following jobs being the most common:

Clearance of Council owned rear alleyways -  The team cuts back overgrowth, removes fly tipping and garden waste. Some can take weeks to clear as vehicles are unable to park close to the alleyway everything has to be removed by wheelbarrow.

Removal of fly tipping on Council owned land - The team remove fly tipping but prior to removal an investigation is carried out to establish if there is evidence which can be passed to the enforcement officer which may then lead to prosecution of the offenders. Should you witness fly tipping and recognise the alleged perpetrator we would urge you to report this to the Estate Management Team on 01827 709491.

Ivy control - Ivy causes thousands of pounds worth of damage to Council properties.  It can grow as high as the roof, damage tiles and grow into central heating boiler vents.  It can also grow across windows and damage brickwork.  The team aims to prevent this by cutting the ivy off at ground level and then killing it at the stump and then finally removing as much as possible from the property.

Application of anti vandal paint and signs on Council owned property - To achieve this, the team works with Housing Officers and Street Wardens.  A coating of anti-vandal paint is applied to walls or fences, and then signage is installed to warn that anti-vandal paint has been used.

Graffiti - Graffiti on council owned property is now being tackled by employing a state of the art graffiti removal system using environmentally safe products. Combined with a 3000 psi power wash system we can now remove graffiti more efficiently.
