A Musical Extravaganza

At Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Saturday 18th July
A Musical Extravaganza promises to be an
evening of lively musical entertainment, featuring two local choirs
accompanied by a live 12-piece band. The evening will be directed
by musical directors Liz Birch and Richard Jeffries
The
Four Oaks Cluster Choir is aimed at young singers
in the Four Oaks and Sutton Coldfield area, aimed primarily at
schools in the
Four Oaks
Cluster. We currently have a strong membership of around
50. Recent reviews stated that the choir had 'excellent
contrasts and diction, singing with understanding and assurance.'
They recently performed in London, where Music Teacher magazine
reviewed their performance as 'taking my breath away'.They
have also performed in venues such as Lichfield Cathedral,
Lichfield Garrick Theatre, Adrian Boult Hall and Sutton Coldfield
Town Hall. They have also taken part in several
competitions.
The Accidentals is an adult choir,
of relatively new origin. They also meet in Sutton
Coldfield, and perform in various concerts through the
year. Their repertoire varies enormously. Audiences have
commented on how the lack of sheet music means that a piece
can really be communicated - and of course simple actions or hand
claps can be added very easily. It also means the choir looks
relaxed! They are a music-loving bunch of people who have fun with
their singing!
The evening will feature a string of popular songs,
including Mamma Mia, Lean on Me, Down By The Riverside, Shine and
Summer Holiday - as well as some more contemplative numbers. You
can expect eyecatching choreography too - with the night guaranteed
to have you humming many popular tunes!
Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are priced £6 (£4
conc).
