Blue boxes and bins

Blue boxes_1From 29 June 2009 you no longer have to sort your recycling into different boxes. Also you can now recycle more products, see the list below.

The blue boxes are collected every week on the same day as your refuse/green bin. The new blue bins are collected every other week.
All recycling and waste collection queries should be made to the Sort It Out Team in the first instance on 01827 709353.


What can I put in my Blue Boxes or Bin?


YES
Plastic bottles - such as milk and drinks bottles, shampoo and washing up bottles.
What's new: margarine/ice cream tubs, yoghurt pots, plastic containers or trays, plastic plant pots/trays, plastic cups/plates/cutlery.

Paper - including junk mail, newspapers, magazines and letters.
What's new: catalogues, telephone directories, clean paper plates.

Glass - glass bottles and jars.
What's new: unbroken drinking glasses.

Cans - such as baked bean cans, dog/cat food cans, drinks cans.
What's new: Aerosol cans, aluminium food trays, foil.

Card - such as cereal boxes, cardboard boxes and tubes. Please flatten cardboard boxes
What's new: waxed cartons (tetrapaks) eg juice cartons, milk cartons. Large card - if this won't fit into the box please tie up and leave next to your box.

Please rinse out jars, bottles, cans etc and remove the lids or caps.

Plastic bags, plastic toys, plastic wrapping, cling film, plastic shoes, wallpaper, light fittings, paint tins, broken glass, pyrex or polystyrene.


Overflowing recycling box?
Place extra recycling in plastic carrier bags. We can’t take extra recycling in black sacks.


Why Recycle?
It's good for your environment.
It will reduce the burden on your Council Tax.
We will have to recycle more in the future so lets get in the recycling habit now.
