Household Waste Collections

Recyclable waste is collected in the blue boxes every week or every other week if you have a new blue bin, except Christmas week. Household waste and garden waste are collected alternate weeks as shown on the Calendar below.

Green bin collection - garden waste such as grass clippings and prunings and now also food waste. Please see the Green Bin web page for more details.
Black bin collection - any other household waste that isn't currently recyclable

Please make sure all bins and boxes are out for collection at 7am.

Please do not put household waste in your green bin - it will not be emptied.

What to do on your refuse day?
Make sure the bin is put out at the edge of your property or agreed location by 7am.

Do not overfill your bin and do not put out additional waste including garden waste next to your bin as this is not permitted and will not be taken.

Do not put any DIY waste in the bin such as bricks, rubble or timber. To prevent emptying problems please make sure this is put in bags in the bin. Do not put any soil in the bin.

Heavy bins will not be taken as they may cause damage to the lifting machinery on the vehicle.

Assistance can be provided to those unable to handle their own bins

Where there are six or more in the family a second bin can be issued. No other second bins are allowed. Contact the Council for an application form.

A bulky item collection service for up to two items of furniture is available fortnightly on Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. Please note this does not include internal fixtures such as doors, bathroom suites, etc. Please ring 01827 709353 for further details and to make arrangements.
