Tamworth Borough Council Pest Control
Service
There is no statutory obligation for Tamworth
Borough Council to provide a pest control service. By making a
modest charge for pest control the Local Authority is able to offer
the residents of Tamworth a good quality, competitively priced
service.
Under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act, all owners of land
have a legal duty to keep their land free from rats and mice.
Routine pest control complaints received out
of hours will generally not be responded to until the next working
day.
What services do we offer?
We carry out free of charge treatments of Rats and Mice in all
domestic properties.
We can also provide a chargeable service for Wasps, Fleas and
Bedbugs..

anyone in a domestic property on a qualifying benefit.

How to Pay?
You can pay us when we call to do the
treatment using any of the following methods:
- Cheque (with guarantee card)
- Building society cheque
- Postal order
Our Pest Control staff cannot take cash
payments
Insect identification
Tamworth Borough Council offers a free insect
identification service. If you take a sample to the reception area
in Marmion House, Lichfield Street Tamworth, Staffs, B79 7BZ the
Pest Control Department will identify it and contact you with
details and any treatment necessary. Please leave your name,
address and contact number with the sample in a sealed
container.
We do not offer a service for
treatment of:
Ants, birds cats, foxes, moles, rabbits, bats, slugs, squirrels,
pigeons, woodlice maggots
Bees – In most cases it is illegal to
kill bees and the most appropriate method of control is the safe
removal to a hive. Tamworth Borough Council DOES NOT provide
this service and you should contact a local beekeeper via the
British Beekeepers Association who may charge for their
services. Tamworth Borough Council does not recommend or
endorse any particular beekeeper or accept responsibility for
services provided
Pest Control Services
are offered on an appointment basis only Monday to Friday 9am to
5pm and can be arranged by contacting our Environment, Health
