Most dog owners are responsible and caring; however feedback from consistently raises the issue of dog fouling. We now have Dog Control Orders in place, under Section 55 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
These make it easier for us to deal quickly and efficiently with irresponsible dog owners and help to encourage a culture of responsible dog ownership. It is only in formal play areas and specific locations where dogs must be on a lead. This means we support responsible dog ownership in public spaces, while acknowledging dogs need to roam free under the control of their owners.
Breaches of any of the orders may result in the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice of £80. These can be issued by authorised council officers and community wardens. Payment must be made within 14 days. You can Pay It Online
