Tamworth has launched its 2012 In Bloom
campaign, which this year will see the borough become a sea of red,
white and blue to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Now groups, communities, businesses and
individuals across Tamworth are being encouraged to get involved to
help make the borough come alive in a vibrant burst of red, white
and blue.
Tamworth is going for a hat-trick of gold
awards, after taking the top award in the Heart of England in Bloom
campaign for the past two years. This year’s Tamworth In Bloom
campaign – Red, White and Bloom – will be a 60-day celebration,
from the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee through to the In Bloom judging
day.
And everyone in Tamworth – especially those
along the judging route – is being invited to do their bit in
whatever way they can. That could be by organising a street party,
planting gardens in a sea of red, white and blue, potting up a
hanging basket or just putting up a flag.
Businesses are being invited to get involved
by sponsoring a display, with banners, planters, troughs and
flowerbeds are all available for branding with the names of
supporting companies.
All of Tamworth’s schools have also been
invited to take part in a gardening competition to grow the best
posy, cushion or crown fit for a queen.
Cllr John Garner, Chairman of Tamworth in
Bloom, said: “We want to see everyone in Tamworth getting behind
Red, White and Bloom to help us celebrate the Queen’s Diamond
Jubilee, as well as going for gold for the third year running.
Whether it’s sponsoring a display, offering support in kind,
helping us to create displays or putting your green fingers to
work, everyone can get involved and play their part in this
historic In Bloom.
“However you decide to get involved, Red,
White & Bloom is about more than just the flowers. It’s about
the whole community showing pride in the environment.”
