Hate crime reporting system
Hate Crime Coffee Morning is a success
A new confidential crime and hate report
system has now been launched by Tamworth Borough Council.
The launch event, which was held at Marmion
House on Thursday 25 February, means people now have an easy way to
report hate crime.
The Borough Council is the first in
Staffordshire to record such incidents as part of the Trent Valley
Partners Against Crime and Hate initiative, managed via the
Community Safety Partnership.
Those involved, Tamworth Borough Council,
Staffordshire police, East Staffs Racial Equality Council and
Staffordshire Buddies, in getting the scheme up and running
and who deal with hate crimes attended to see how the new
reporting service had been integrated into the services offered by
the Council’s customer services team.
Visitors to the Council offices that morning were offered the
opportunity to have a demonstration on how the website worked so
they could see first hand how easy it was to use.
Tony Goodwin, Tamworth Borough Council’s Deputy Chief Executive,
said: “Our Council website means people now have a very easy way to
report hate crime and other incidents which can have an devastating
effect on people and their family’s lives. The sooner incidents are
reported the sooner they can be dealt with.”
Hate crime can also be reported at http://www.report-it.org.uk/ or
the Race Equality Council on 01283
510456.
