Glascote lantern parade
The
streets of Glascote Heath are set to be lit up with festive cheer –
and everyone is invited to join in.
Organisers are hoping that the community will
come together for Glascote Heath’s first-ever Christmas lantern
parade, which is being held on Thursday December 15.
People of all ages are being invited to take
part in the festive procession, which is due to start from the
Sacred Heart RC Church in Silver Link Road at 4.30pm. It will wind
its way through the estate, before arriving at St Peter’s Church in
Hawksworth at around 6pm, where there will be light refreshments
available for those who have taken part in the parade.
A shorter route may be taken if the weather is
poor on the evening of the procession.
Anyone who would like to come along and take
part in the parade is being invited to come along to Sacred Heart
Church just before 4.30pm and to bring their own lantern. Sure
Start Children’s Centre is supporting the event and will be running
a lantern-making session before the event from 3.30pm, which is
open to everyone.
Examples of lanterns which are easy to make
can also be seen at Glascote ARCH in the library and at St Peter’s
Church, where anyone wanting to join the lantern procession can
pick up inspiration.
So bring along your lantern and join in the
fun!
