Housing highlights - the past year
Improved security, rent campaigns, the new
‘Finding a Home’ service, responding to anti-social behaviour and
estate walkabouts are among the initiatives Tamworth Borough
Council has introduced over the last 12 months, after listening to
its tenants.
These are just some of the highlights revealed
in a new report which was given the green light by Cabinet members
earlier this week (September 29)
And over the next few months, tenants will be
asked to get involved and tell the Council what
further improvements they would like to see. This will be done
via the website, the tenants’ magazine Open House and also at
roadshow events held in different areas.
According to the report - Landlord Services
Annual Report 2009/10 - the estate walkabouts proved a big success
with tenants, as police, housing staff and councillors were on hand
to address any issues tenants may have in their area. At the end of
the walkabouts, a list is drawn up highlighting improvements which
would be made, along with a timetable.
The report also shows that more than 15,200
repairs to homes were made and 100% of urgent repairs were
completed on time, while 97% of appointments were kept. In
addition, 1,251 homes had improvements made to them which including
kitchens, bathrooms, heating upgrades, new windows and
insulation.
