£260,000 improvements for Thomas Hardy Court?
Tamworth Borough council’s Cabinet will this week decide whether
to enter a partnership
with Staffordshire County
Council which will secure £260,000 of funding to provide a
specialist unit at Thomas Hardy court. If agreed by Cabinet the
unit will provide extra care services for older people within the
local scheme. The investment will also see five extra flats created
and extra care and support being provided to all residents.
“I am very excited about the opportunities this scheme could
provide and I hope we gain the endorsement of the Cabinet” said
Councillor Mary Oates, Portfolio Holder for Quality of Life. “This
proposal is the result of over 12 months hard work from all
partners involved from both Staffordshire County Council and the
Landlord Services team at the Borough council. If the proposal is
agreed further consultation will be carried out with local
residents to ensure they all get the very best out of this
service.”
Thomas Hardy Court is a sheltered scheme providing on site care
and support for over 40 households. The scheme is already very
successful with the local scheme manager facilitating a number of
social activities including bingo, trips and luncheon clubs.
