The Place Survey
The Place Survey is a new consultation that all local
authorities are required to carry out on a two yearly basis.
The Place Survey was devised by central government and replaces the
Best Value Performance Indicator Survey (BVPI) which was carried
out by Tamworth Borough Council in 2000, 2003 and 2006. The
Place Survey has been developed as part of a new focus on improving
outcomes for local people and places – rather than on processes,
institutions and inputs.

Survey report.
How is the Place Survey conducted?
The Place Survey is a postal survey and carried out every two
years. The survey will be sent to 300 local residents. The
questionnaire includes questions on the following themes:
• About your local area
• Your local public services
• Information
• Local decision-making
• Getting involved
• Respect and consideration
• Community Safety
The timetable for the Place Survey must be followed by all
local authorities in England. There is an initial mail out of
questionnaires; there will then be a second mail out
to encourage returns.
Keeping you informed
Residents will be kept informed about the Place Survey via the
website, press releases and our Talkback magazine. Please follow
