Title: Dog Control
Orders
Status: Closed
The vast majority of dog owners are caring and responsible. Not
only for their pet's well being but also considerate as to the
effect their dog has on other residents and visitors to
Tamworth.
However, complaints regarding the behaviour of some dog owners
and regarding the problem of dog fouling are still regularly
received by the Local Authority. Reports and letters in the local
newspapers also highlight the frequency and extent of the
problem.
Tamworth Borough Council intends to make a number of Dog Control
orders under Section 55 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment
Act 2005 to address these problems.

Tamworth Listens is a yearly engagement event. Two 'Speed Date
Your Councillor' events were held on September 28th 2010. These
events allowed members of the public to put questions to
Councillors and other public service representatives. Comment cards
were also available so residents could tell us what they liked
about Tamworth, what they disliked and what they would
change.
The questions and comments raised during the events and on the
comment cards were used, along with other consultations, to inform

Debate.

Title: Stronger Leader
Model Status:
Closed
Residents of Tamworth were consulted over
how they would prefer the crucial issue of leadership of their
local democracy to work.
A change in the law meant that Tamworth
Borough Council must choose from one of two options for
leadership: either a Leader with stronger powers or a directly
elected Mayor.
Under the current system, the Council has a
Leader and a Cabinet. Each year the Council appoints the Leader,
and each year the Leader decides how many and which councillors
make up the Cabinet, as well as what jobs the Cabinet performs.
