Council budget and spending

Tamworth Borough Council operates its services on an annual budget of £67 million.

This is made up of:

Gross revenue expenditure of £43 million General Fund (net of tariff payable to Government) and £24 million of Housing Revenue Account.

This is primarily made up of:

  • £19 million - government benefit grants
  • £2 million - government support
  • £20 million - council house rents
  • £16 million - corporate rents fees and charges
  • £3 million – Business Rates
  • £3 million - Council Tax

The Capital programme for 2018/19 totals £23.5 million (£13.3 million housing, £10.2 million General Fund).

Council Tax for 2018/19 is £1,648.36​ for a Band D property. This is made up of:

  • £1210.52 - Staffordshire County Council
  • £192.56 - Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner Staffordshire 
  • £73.53  - Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority
  • £171.75 - Tamworth Borough Council Services
