Equality Impact Assessments
What are they?
Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) are a systematic way of
finding out whether a policy, procedure or practice affects all
groups equally. It considers the impact of the policy or
service on a range of personal characteristics including: ethnic
origin, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation,
religion or belief or age.
Tamworth Borough Council can use it to take account of different
needs and experiences and to:
• Achieve better results
• Identify actual and potential inequality
• Respond as necessary to these inequality
Why do we carry them out?
• To meet our organisational priorities of equality and
inclusion.
• To ensure that a policies, procedures and practices will not
create any barriers that could prevent access to services or
employment opportunities.
