Fireworks
Watching fireworks is popular and fun, but
fireworks are explosives and burn at high temperatures, so they
need careful handling and storage. Tamworth Borough Council
is holding a free firework event event in the
Castle Grounds on Saturday 7th November 2009 which you may
want to attend instead of holding your own event. For further
information see the What's On Brochure on our Events pages.
To organise a safe and successful firework
display at home or if you are organising a public display we
recommend that you take time to look at the firework safety pages
on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Department for
Business Innovation & Skills(BIS)
websites.
We also recommend that you follow
the guidance in the HSE document HS(G) 124
“Giving your Own Firework Display.”
This document can now be downloaded free of charge. Please
click the link on the right to access the HSE books page where
you can download this document.
Laws have been introduced to make fireworks
safer, less noisy and put restrictions on when they can be let
off. Click on the link on the right to access the
BIS
firework safety website for further information on these
laws.
Trading Standards have set up a 24 hour
Fireworks
Hotline for members of the public if they are
concerned about sales of fireworks, letting off fireworks during
night hours and antisocial behaviour involving use of
fireworks.
